FESTIVAL SEASON!!! - May 2, 2008

Summer love is upon us and we are SO blessed to be invited to several galactic festivals this season! Starting with WHOLE EARTH FESTIVAL in Davis, CA, then off to HARMONY FEST w/ Damien Marley and Arrested Development...next stop the OREGON COUNTRY FAIR! stay tuned because this is ONLY THE BEGINNING! XOXOXOXOOXO

Thank you Oregon! - March 31, 2008

Well, we're fresh off the boat from Oregon and Northern Cali, where we played some good times. good times. The people of OR were ultra-wonderful and the venues we played at were not only hip but soooo accomodating...a rarity! Lisa, our manager, hopped on board for the run and made things run that much smoother...not to mention the fact that another female on board never hurt this rudegirl ;-)

The tour kicked off with a warm adieu from our local fan-base, joining us at DQs for a sincerely sweet Solstice show. My co-workers from the elementary school I work at came out to represent...3rd, 4th & 5th grade teachers DO know how to party...especially when on spring break! ;-)

Friday night we headed up to Berkeley...thanks to Karuna and crew for the love and to NewBlue and John Staedler for warming up the stage. I got to wear my new Adidas Missy E's for the very first time. Mi Like. And man, did I look cool...

Saturday we played Dunsmuir for the very first time, which is a small town near Mt. Shasta. Not only did the people there eat up our merchandise, but they cut a rug, too. Good times. We stayed at Louie Dewey's resort for dirt cheap and hiked 1/2 mile (this is what the locals will tell you...it's actually about 2 miles) up the river to Mossbrae Falls...incredibly beautiful...can't wait to head back in the summertime and let them falls crush my dome.

Sunday was Easter and we leisurely made our way to Ashland, OR, to a BBQ at our friends...Matt, Unity and Banyan. Banyan is their 4 year old son and I think the Rudeboys are now experts at making domino courses thanks to him. Jenga, Apples to Apples, and Wii are also now addictions, thank you ;-)

Monday was a shocking packed house at Alex's restaurant in Ashland, where I am convinced people just don't have day jobs...or night jobs. Karen Lovely sure made my night. She is a local blues singer that just freakin wails! And it was a super treat to have her come up and sing on 'Crazy Mama'...This mama sho' taught this mama a few things that night....It was so good to see Jeni Larsen from Earthdance there, too, as well as Ambur Rose, who we met at Dreamtime Festival last summer ;-) This was also the night of our manager, Lisa's, 30th B-day. Let's just say that after the owner of the venue "made her" drink a shot, she tried to collect our money not once, but twice. hey, at least she remembered to collect it. period.

Tuesday we played a Benefit show for the Corvallis Environmental Center at Fireworks Venue...Ocean, the owner, made our night! Not only were we fed all organic gourmet food from a clay oven, but he recorded the show and streamed it live from their website! www.fireworksvenue.com. Met some lovely talented people there that night and I got to enjoy the company of my high-school friend, Joy, who is expecting her 2nd baby. Thanks to Holly, too, for hosting us!

Wednesday we made our way to Portland. We've been collecting money for the World Action Foundation, which is an all-volunteer org that brings relief and aide to the street children of west africa, starting in Ghana. One of the men behind the scenes is Bill, who we had the pleasure of meeting at our show that night. What a treat. He and I started brainstorming and we're hopefully going to start sending help to blind and deaf children as well! Very inspiring. Breakfast at 2AM was highly unusual and much needed. We went to Roxy's in the gay district with our new friends, Jaime, Sam and Melissa. Justin ordered the vagitarian omellette. no, that is not a typo. We stayed in Portland with Josh and Sarah and Josh played us blue-grass lullabies until we all passed out.

Hood RIver was our next stop and following the Colombia River there was just beautiful. It started snowing when we arrived which made the drive even prettier. you know, it's that snow-globe snow I'm talking about.

Friday in Bend was freeking cold but amazing to see my dear friends, Amy & Andy and their 2 year old Chloe. Chloe was enamored with the bus and we convinced her that "this is what all school buses are like." Amy was a true friend and came up on stage to dance Betty with me. She was amazing and sang the harmonies like she's been singing since the womb.

Saturday, our last night on tour, was perhaps the most sacred as well. In weaverville, there is a coffeehouse and music venue called Mamma Llama. The vibes there are so irie and Steve and his wife Donna are super chill. Their staff is amazing and the sound there was the BEST i've ever heard it anywhere!!!! no joke. The people of Weaverville were so stoked to have us and we were likewise so happy to play for such evolved souls. A perfect way to end the tour. And my spring break. Which is officially over. My first day back was today. It was good to see the kids. They've grown. One week packed with spurts.

When I got home from work, Johnny was the bearer of really sad news. My fav alpaca, Annie, died while we were gone. I never thought I'd cry so hard over an animal, but she was so special. She was the only alpaca on our farm that let you pet her. She brought so much joy to everyone she met...she'll be sorely missed...I love you Annie.

And I love all of you who read these journals and come out to our shows and support what we do. Hugs to you...hope to see you all soon!!!! Much love, Naomi

Halloween Party! - October 21, 2007

For everyone that is coming to the Big Sur bash, just wanted to let you know that there are no more hotel rooms left. However, there are still TONS of tent sites. I'm not sure how cold it is going to get at night, so if you are planning on camping, please bring warm gear and it is a good idea to bring firewood FROM HOME because, as you may know, everything in Big Sur is twice the price it normally is!!!!!! Our show will start at 9pm and we do have to stop the music at around midnight...if you've never come down for these parties before, you're in for a real treat because the site is just beautiful...they have a nice outdoor deck and of course, everything is completely surrounded by redwoods!!! Here is the number to reserve a campsite: 831-667-2422, or go to www.fernwoodbigsur.com. And remember to DRESS IN COSTUME!

Beautiful Beings now available through iTunes! - October 9, 2007

just go to 'buy' and you'll find the link...please leave a review if you have time! thank you!!!!

lyrics... - October 2, 2007

been getting a lot of questions about our lyrics..."what do you say there...??" so at the risk of being mistaken for saying something ridiculous such as..."Excuse me, while I kiss this guy", or, "Hey there, Rodrigo" (which is what my sister thought Van says at the beginning of 'Brown Eyed Girl", I will be happy to answer any lyrical question you may have...please email me. Unfortunately, the web host we use right now doesn't allow for a lyric page...and I leave you with this imagery...I was obsessed with Flashdance growing up (what girl in the 80s wasn't???) and I used to run around dancing and singing at the top of my lungs, "TAKE YOUR PANTS OFF AND MAKE IT HAPPEN." you know what part of "What a Feeling" I'm talkin about??? well, if not, maybe you should revisit it...it's good for at least one good scream-along. g'nite

'beautiful beings' available online - September 25, 2007

through CDBaby for now...downloads will be available soon...please help us by spreading the word to peeps who don't know about our music yet, but might dig it, ya dig? what we get, we put in, what we put in, we give...

we heart earthdance festival - September 17, 2007

for those of you who have not had the chance to experience the magic of earthdance, i really want to take time out of my hectic schedule to express my love for this one of a kind gathering!

the location we played at is located on Wavy Gravy's black oak ranch in Northern California about 3 hours north of SF. No matter when you arrive to this 3 day fest, you will be greeted with the warmest hospitality crew ever. They ride their bike to escort you to a proper parking/camping spot. there are plenty of amazing oaks providing adequate shade and the landscape of the surroundings is outlined by a creek and rolling california hills.

The intention of earthdance is to provide not only music, but a forum for activists, artists, dancers and healers to share their ideas and stories with other like-minded folk.

All the food sold is natural and earth-friendly. All the vehicles run by earthdance employees on site are powered by bio-diesel. All their promotional material is printed on hemp paper with soy-based inks. All the decorations are made from natural materials including many many plants, flowers, crystals and beautiful shrines popping up as if the earth made them herself.

as if this is not enough, the music is the best line up i've seen for any festival anywhere. the bands are of a high level of consciousness...lyrics are uplifting and the vibes are completely lifted with each and every set of music played. the variety is huge too, with everything from burlesque road shows to electronic dome chants. i even ventured into a saturday morning kundalini dance party and let's just say she hath risen. for a complete line up of this year's festival, go to www.earthdance.org.

okay, now it keeps getting better. earthdance was founded by an aussie named chris decker. he spearheaded this event which now takes place in 350 places in 50 different countries!!!! sooo, chances are, there is an earthdance near you!!! the special thing about this is that the event happens simultaneouly around the globe so the power of unity is felt through our very molecules buzzing at the same speed of happiness globally.

this year's theme was H2OM. an homage to mother earth's water. we learned a lot about water and the earth thanks to the council of elders that was present. at 4pm on saturday, everyone gathering around the elders and we all participated in a group OM! the OM was tuned in to a frequency that the earth naturally already hums at! this frequency has been found by NASA and it is what started our huge om. the OM was also recorded live and transmitted to specially designed water speakers that were placed in the sacred rivers of the earth including Ganges, Amazon and Nile. IMAGINE THIS! a loving OM from ALL the earthdancers all over the globe...all OMing at the same time...sent into the rivers.

i love this festival. if you have any questions, just ask...it would be a great service to promote its growth and without a doubt, it would change you.

AZ THANK YOU! - August 27, 2007

woah. i mean. woah. AZ is hot this time of year! didn't i know this when the tour was booked back in May? well...ummm....yes! and we did it any way! with NO REGRETS! seriously, man...the heat brings out some agitation. we all were feeling it. that is why when we started playing music and everyone started grooving, it was such a relief! the heat also brought about many late night discussions due to our restless sleepless nights. Reasoning about everything from music to effective communication, fashion to farming, we learned a lot on this tour and want to thank the kind folk in AZ for welcoming us to their state once again. Kisses.

LIFE LIVES on sale through CDBaby - August 4, 2007

We need to make room for our big shipment of BEAUTIFUL BEINGS by selling more copies of Naomi's solo album, LIFE LIVES...go to 'Buy' and you'll find the direct link to hear the tracks off of that delicious album...

Where to next? - August 3, 2007

Hi lovelies...I'm looking at a blank calendar for November and December and...well, we've got a bus that can carry us pretty much everywhere except across the oceans...If you are hoping we make a visit to your hometown because we either haven't yet, or it's been too long, LET US KNOW!!!! email naomi@rudeboyrock.com....LOVE!

THANK YOU CO, WY & NV! - July 29, 2007

Hi loves...welcome to our new website and a big huge hug goes out to all our friends that came out to our shows in July!

We started off our longest tour yet in Berkeley at an amazing venue called Ashkenaz. A surprise appearance by The Stovall Sisters made our night!

Next morning, it was off to North Lake Tahoe where we played at Northstar Resort. The spot is really cool because the stage overlooks a skating rink. I was bombarded by children that evening, being that it is a family resort. Signing autographs for a bunch of 6 year olds is tiring but fun! And to top off the evening, two seniors in High School recognized me as their subsitute teacher from back home!!! They were there vacationing with their families and I pretty much had to bribe them to keep their mouths shut about my "other job". =)

Next on our stop was Sparks, NV. It was sweltering hot when we arrived and we took our sweet time setting up. Paul and the staff there were so freekin nice and the people that came out to see us were phenomenal!!! Got about 2 hours of sleep before we were off to Salt Lake City, UT.

No show in SLC, so we loaded up on Bio-fuel and kept on driving until we were just about to lose it. Our tired asses landed in an old town called Green River, WY. No vacancies in the hotels there so we "copped a squat" in what looked like an abandoned neighborhood by the train tracks. Woke up that morning to Justin hauling ass in the driver's seat. Apparently, one of the deserted homes wasn't quite deserted and a man with a mean looking pitt was staring down our bus. It's all cool. He ate our dust.

That day we drove through an amazing part of the country...Medicine Bow National Forest. VERY high altitude! When we arrived at the Buckhorn Bar in Laramie, WY, let's just say that at first, it wasn't the warmest of welcomes. I started to translate our songs into country tunes because it looked like we were going to play for a bunch of cowboys. As it turned out, the cowboys and cowgirls were getting their groove on to just about anything we played and our night got better and better as more people phoned their friends telling them to "check out the band that rolled into town." Laramie is a college town and has a very unique underground scene so we were stoked to have played there afterall! And to top off the night, we stayed with our new artist friend, Zekiel, in a freekin' pyramid! Thanks Zeke!

Off to Boulder, CO. Beautiful city. We jumped into the creek downtown before playing at the Southern Sun Brewery. Page McConnell was playing in town that night, so we didn't have the huge turn-out we would have, but so many wonderful folk turned up anyhow and we had a blast playing. Katie and Scotty, thanks for the flowers!

Next night, Denver. My younger "sister" Charis came out with some friends and the lovely Lindsey O'Brien opened the show with her amazing vocals! Fun times.

After Denver, we were off to Crested Butte. None of us had been there before and we were so stoked upon arrival...what a gorgeous place! Not to mention that we got to open for reggae legend, Lee Scratch Perry and Dub Is A Weapon. Made some good friends that night. BIG LOVE! After the show, I drove us up to a special spot called Lake Irwin. The road was so windy and long, but with a case of the giggles, it made the drive go by fast. When we finally arrived, some of us just coudn't stop laughing...sorry guys. I know you were trying to sleep but you know you can always just use duct tape and I'll forgive you.

Next day, mapquest gave us the bright idea that we could take all these tiny roads through Gunnison National Forest to get to our northern destination of Carbondale. Luckily, we were behind a man in a tractor grading the road because when we showed him our directions, he pretty much looked at me like I was on crack. We had to drive all the way back down and around the mountains, but that stretch of road where we were in low gear through the forest was perhaps the most BEAUTIFUL wilderness I've seen yet! Aspen groves so pristine and wildflowers so alive! Ahhh!

It was pouring by the time we got to Carbondale, but the staff at Phat Thai restaurant hooked us up with a HUGE tab and we ate the best thai food ever! mmmmm.

Then, it was off to our final destination...the festival which inspired us out to CO in the first place...the Dreamtime Festival. And although at first it was looking more like a nightmare fest (they wouldn't let us bring our dog in and we had to store her in a box at the local vet clinic), we ended up making some great connections and having a good time. For months I have been in contact with two extraordinary women through myspace, Beth Preston and Jess Latham. They were playing at the fest too so we finally met! Amazing musicians and now great friends, they came and played some shows in Santa Cruz too. Jess is from Australia and Beth from San Diego. Be on the look out for their music because it is so freekin inspiring!

And so we made it home, but not before entering the gorgeous canyon of Zion National Park and hours later, entering into the heights of babylon, Las Vegas. I lost one dollar. Got drunk off of one Corona and Justin had to carry my leftovers home across the strip because I just couldn't seem to hold myself together. We were all pimped out in a suite that night (thanks Russ) and apparently Jessica (our merch goddess) came home to the suite and saw a humongous grin on my grill. She thought I was awake and started talking to me. I must have just been extremely happy and fell asleep that way.

And so it goes with my days. I feel so happy and accomplished. My mother's first question was, "Are you all still together?". I guess when you look at our living quarters and figure in the amount of time we have to be in each other's company, that is a reasonable question. And the answer is, yes! We are so excited about how everything worked out, we can't wait to do it again...and again! So if you've been waiting for us to hit up your hometown, thank you for your patience and know that in a moment's time, we will be lighting up your world and you will be lighting up ours...BLESSED BE, Naomi
